It was a really fun experience the whole way through. All of my instructors were full of knowledge. My fellow students were all great. Every class that I took had a purpose. I actually miss coming to school!

Medical student Paola Schriber

MTI makes sure that we get prepared and ready to face a real working job. It’s completely changed my life for the better.

Ricky Andrade, MTI College Phlebotomy Graduate

I never thought I would learn so much in so little time! I was able to continue to volunteer in the labs at MTI until I received my license and was then sent to Sutter through MTI’s Career Services office. Even to this day, if I have a question I can go to the instructors, directors or the president of the school to get a question answered. My education helped me to exceed the expectations of my new employer.

Healthcare Career Paths

As a student in MTI’s healthcare training program, you may choose between three different programs: Medical Assistant, Medical Billing and Coding, and Phlebotomy.

Careers in Healthcare

Those choosing the Medical Assistant program can expect to complete administrative and clinical tasks in medical offices of physicians, chiropractors, and other healthcare related offices. Some of the most common duties include: recording patient history, measuring vital signs, scheduling appointments, and preparing subjects for lab tests.

Phlebotomists also work alongside doctors and patients and are responsible for drawing blood for a variety of different reasons which include testing, transfusions, research, or donations. They are also there to provide support to patients who may have adverse reactions after blood is taken.

Medical Billers and Coders, on the other hand, handle more administrative and financial aspects of a medical office with typically less or no interaction with patients. They review patient medical records and assign codes to diagnoses and procedures performed so the facility can bill the patient and the patient’s insurance provider accurately.

All of these potential career paths involve working in some type of medical facility helping with patient or administrative tasks. Employment in the field is expected to grow over the next decade making it a solid career choice with potential for a solid income, as well as professional growth.
