The Legal Administrative Assistant Diploma program at MTI College is designed to put graduates to work right away in legal offices locally in Sacramento or anywhere nationwide. Our program helps students learn everything they need to know to help manage a law office. Students who complete the program leave prepared to work in a wide range of law practices – including civil, criminal and family law.
Classes and course work at MTI College place an emphasis on acquiring these office managerial skills. Students will gain expertise in using Microsoft Office Suite products—used almost universally in law offices around the nation. MTI instructors also offer one-on-one tutoring to help students obtain a better grasp of the skills they need to flourish in a law office.

Graduates of the Legal Training program will have access to MTI’s job placement assistance. This free service provides students with resume writing assistance, proven job interview techniques, as well as other job search resources and coaching techniques.
Legal Assistant Job Description
Document preparation is the primary role undertaken in legal assistant jobs in a law office. Attorneys count on their legal assistants and secretaries in preparing and processing a variety of law documents to be used in trials, hearings, or other legal actions. These documents can include complaints, motions, summons, and subpoenas.
Legal Administrative Assistants are also called upon to assist in composing official and personal correspondence for attorneys. Other duties often include managing client appointments, greeting clients at the law office, filing important documents, and attending to bookkeeping tasks.

MTI’s job placement rate calculations are based on the award year July 1 to June 30. The unadjusted rate represents the percentage of total graduates who obtain employment in or related to their field of study. The adjusted rate represents the percentage of graduates who are actively looking for work and obtain employment in or related to their field of study. The adjusted rate does not include graduates who are not looking for work for reasons such as continuing education, remaining at current place of employment, military service, health issues, death, etc. For more information on these calculations, refer to the Job Placement Rate Calculation page.

Note: The percentage shown above represents students who graduated from the program on or before the published graduation date. The majority of the remaining students completed the program within the timeframe allowed by the U.S. Department of Education, which is 150% of the normal program length. A student’s graduation date may be delayed by a few days or a few months due to circumstances such as the need to retake a course or the need for a leave of absence to care for an ailing family member.

More Career Training Options from MTI
Students can receive their diploma from MTI College of Sacramento in less than a year in the Legal Administrative Assistant program.
Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible for advancement to other degree programs offered through MTI. They can enroll in the second year of the Business Administration program or the other legal studies programs and earn either Associate in Arts degree through completing additional courses.
For students who have more time and are interested in a career as a paralegal, MTI College also offers a two-year Associate Degree for Paralegal positions. In addition to this traditional on-campus format, MTI offers a partial online Paralegal Associate Degree program.
