MTI College’s American Bar Association (ABA) approved Paralegal Program prepares students with the knowledge and skills necessary for in-demand paralegal careers in a wide range of legal practice areas.
Enhance your existing educational credentials by enrolling in MTI's OnlinePlus Paralegal Studies program. The course of study includes a partially online program intended to appeal to students interested in an innovative alternative to traditional modes of study. MTI College's Paralegal Degree Program has garnered the approval of the ABA and the OnlinePlus option allows you to spend as little as one night on campus a week for one course, while completing the other two courses online as you work to complete your Sacramento paralegal training.
By pursuing this partially online course of study, students gain the skills necessary for rewarding paralegal careers in which they will work under the supervision of licensed lawyers. Program graduates will be equipped to offer knowledgeable, reliable services in law firm settings, government agencies and other types of legal practice environments. The curriculum and benchmarks utilized by the online course are identical to those of our conventional on-campus Paralegal Studies program, which also boasts ABA approval. The course of study is geared toward sharpening students' logical reasoning and analytical skills as well as their ability to accurately apply legal principles to the facts presented to them. Sacramento paralegal training at MTI achieves these goals through the use of theoretical teaching methods as well as by offering hands-on, practical experience. The paralegal training program provides a solid foundation in legal research and writing, litigation procedure and other key legal studies topics.
Also available through MTI College are its Legal Administrative Assistant diploma program and the traditional, campus-based A.A. degree program in Paralegal Studies.
How Does an OnlinePlus Degree Differ from Other Programs
Is there a significant difference between Traditional and Online courses of study? The OnlinePlus paralegal course provides Internet-based instruction via a Course Management System (CMS), which serves as every student's comprehensive clearinghouse for course materials, assignments, examinations, lectures and class discussion sessions. The majority of student interaction with classmates and instructors is done online and through email. Students are encouraged to establish personal relationships with fellow students when on campus and to stay connected through telephone conversations whenever possible.
Traditional classes take place in classrooms or lab facilities on campus, generally only one evening a week. The OnlinePlus program is broken into four quarters consisting of three courses, two of which are online, and one of which is conducted in the conventional classroom environment. The online and traditional paralegal course offerings use a curriculum approved by the ABA and are staffed by MTI's seasoned paralegal faculty.
Program graduates will become valuable members of the legal services field, providing solid, knowledgeable support in civil, criminal and regulatory areas of the law. They will be highly qualified and able to effectively perform substantive legal tasks under the supervision of licensed attorneys, though they are not permitted to directly provide legal services to clients unless explicitly allowed by law.

Additional Facts about the OnlinePlus Program
The Paralegal Studies Program at MTI is one of only a few courses of study to have received both ABA approval and accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Program faculty includes experienced lawyers, paralegals and other legal services professionals. Our goal is to ensure that program graduates go on to tell others about the quality of the education they have received and to support further initiatives aimed at enhancing educational opportunities in the legal services field.
Students who complete the program are able to receive career services assistance. It is typically the case that students who complete internships or other types of legal employment have greater success in obtaining permanent jobs upon graduation that those who do not. Therefore, MTI takes pride in assisting students in identifying and securing such positions while they work to build their careers. Further adding to the marketability of paralegal program students is their ability to become licensed notaries.
