Systems Engineer with SECURITY
SPECIALIZATION Diploma Program
MCSE Course
MTI
College offers two MSE programs: a two-year
Associate's Degree (A.A.S.) and the following Diploma program.
This diploma program may be completed in approximately 46 weeks.
MCSE Course Objective:
Computer network security is more important now than it’s
ever been! Companies are prioritizing the allocation of resources
to handle increased threats to their information security. Employers
value IT professionals with certifications that demonstrate they
have met industry-set standards to handle the ever-changing demands
of managing computer networks. MTI’s Microsoft System Engineer
program is responding to the demand for qualified network security
professionals who can do the job!
The
objective of the MCSE Course is to prepare students for employment
in the information technology field as Microsoft Systems Engineers
with a specialization in Security. A heavy focus is placed on achieving
MCSE: Security on Windows 2003 certification (including CompTIA’s
Security+), which is comprised of successfully passing seven rigorous
exams. Exam vouchers are provided for students who meet the requirements
of MTI’s Test Pass Assurance (TPA) program. The TPA is designed
to support students by tying course outcomes to the objectives on
the corresponding Microsoft exams and providing the labs and practice
material required to pass the exams.
While preparing for certification and employment, students develop
skills to effectively plan, implement, and support systems in a
wide range of computing environments using Microsoft Windows 2003.
This includes applying widely used tools and technologies to perform
routine system administrative tasks as well as to design scalable
networks. Coursework also covers the installation and upgrade of
desktop and server operating systems, and the configuration of services,
protocols, access, and routers per client specifications. Additionally,
students become proficient in identifying, troubleshooting, and
resolving network problems using the appropriate tools, utilities,
and resources. As students in the course become increasingly proficient
in skills and knowledge directly related to becoming an MCSE, they
also practice the “soft skills” (such as teamwork, problem
solving, and professionalism) that all employers require.
Candidates for the Microsoft Systems Engineer Diploma program must
possess end-user knowledge and facility with the Microsoft Windows
environment and the Internet Explorer browser. They must also provide
verification of current or recent employment in the information
technology industry or evidence of a related industry certification
such as A+ or MCP. If any of these requirements are not met, please
refer to two-year Associate’s Degree
(A.A.S.).
