Specialist Diploma Program
This diploma program may be completed in approximately 36 weeks
Objective:
To prepare the student for employment in end-user application work,
computer operations, technical support, or a related computer field.
This program is designed to help students prepare for the CompTIA
A+ Computer Technician Certification Exams. Certification
vouchers are provided at no additional charge to students who meet
requirements of MTI's Test Pass Assurance (TPA) program.
Students who successfully complete this program are eligible to
be considered for advancement to Year Two of the Microsoft
Systems Engineer degree program with the addition of M130A and
M130B, Mathematics Concepts, and GE200, English Composition.
Description:
Computer Operators and Technicians are responsible for maintaining
an organization's computer system. They monitor the activities of
all the users on the system, as well as ensuring the operation of
all peripheral devices. Technicians typically maintain, troubleshoot,
and install microcomputer hardware components and software.
Training Requirements:
The Computer Operator/Technician should have knowledge of microcomputer
hardware and operating systems; keyboarding skills; and the ability
to use various computer applications and maintain, troubleshoot,
and install microcomputer hardware components and software.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a faster-than-average
growth in career opportunities in the field of Management Information
Systems. With additional education, the entry level computer operator
can advance to programmer, application specialist and network administration.
